Hi, are you somebody who is sensitive to colours, art, and just everything under the umbrella of painting?
Today, we're going to talk about pastel colours, and the ways they impact your emotions, creativity, and art-making process.
Why Sensitive People Feel Colours More Deeply?
Especially if you're a highly sensitive person, you may feel colours more deeply. You can sense the emotions that colours evoke.
For example:
Wearing a yellow dress may make you feel bright and sunny.
Wearing a blue skirt may make you feel calm and feminine.
Wearing a green shirt may bring a sense of peace and harmony.
So, it's important to sense colours and reflect on what each colour makes you feel, because that can help you create art that is authentic and emotionally honest.
Here is a tip, before you paint, ask yourself these two questions:
This might not feel important at first, but give it a go.
What colour is speaking to me today?
What colour wants to be painted through me?
For example, pale pink is one of my favourite colours.

Pale pink makes me feel soothed.
It connects me to my angels.
It gives me a sense of comfort like everything is going to be okay.
Even when I use pale pink across different artworks and techniques, I never get bored of it.
Have you ever felt that way? Have you painted with just one colour?
That’s not overuse. There are high chances for the color to be evoking:
an emotion
a memory
a sense of safety or happiness
Maybe it’s something you're not finding in other areas of your life, but you find it in that colour.
Now let’s look at another colour—pastel blue.

To me, pastel blue feels like:
being close to the ocean
painting the sky
calmness and presence
emotional stillness
It makes me want to create something expansive and peaceful.
Why Choosing the Right Colours Matters in Art?
So why is this important?
Yes, technically, choosing the right paint helps you create a better painting.
But what about:
how you feel while painting?
how you feel when you look at your artwork later?
Art is not just technical.
It’s emotional.
It’s about how you process colours, brushes, canvas, and textures.
Today, we’re talking about pastel paints, but this applies to all art materials.
Let me ask you:
What colour evokes an emotion in you that makes your painting feel like your own?
Many times, we pick colours because:
we saw another artist use them.
we admire their work.
we think it will work for us too.
And yes, it might work.
But then we miss out on creating something truly original.
Because art is not just personal, it is intimate.
When you treat your art process as intimate, you naturally choose colours that:
speak to you
support your emotions
belong in your painting
So I encourage you:
If you feel calm → pick blue
If you feel joyful → pick yellow
If you feel comforted → pick pale pink
If you feel sad or heavy → pick black
Even if the choice feels unusual, please don’t judge it.
What matters is if you're being true to how you feel about that colour?
The Missing Conversation in the Art World
Not many content creators talk about the way art materials make us feel.
But they matter.
Your paints, brushes, and colours are not just tools, they are emotional extensions of you.
When you choose them consciously, your painting comes from a deeper, more intimate space.
When you create art this way:
You feel connected to your work
Your painting carries emotional depth
Viewers can sense something unique
People may not always understand why they like your art, but they will feel it.
They will recognise that your work is not copied, your work has a voice, your work has truth.
Final Reflection
I hope this helped you understand how to choose the right paint colours through emotion, self-awareness, and sensitivity.
Because when you do:
your art becomes more authentic
your process becomes more meaningful
your connection with your work becomes deeper

Working With Me: Coaching for Sensitive People

Hello, I am Pranita Rao. I work with sensitive individuals, highly sensitive people, creatives, healers, and spiritual seekers who want a soft and private space to express themselves and understand their sensitivity without labels, heaviness, or emotional confusion.
There is no spiritual identity required. No artistic credentials required. This is a clear space to think, feel, create, and move forward.
My work combines sensitivity, art, creative expression, emotional clarity, simple structures, energy healing, angelic Reiki, intuitive reading, and guidance.
As for my experience, I have four years of experience working with angelic beings, three years of experience working with art, and I have supported many individuals by holding a grounded, honest, and safe space.
My clients learn how to regulate sensitivity, gain emotional clarity, set energetic boundaries, and make consistent decisions despite internal or external challenges.
Please note that understanding that you are highly sensitive is an important first step, but awareness alone does not create stability. What creates change is learning how to work with your sensitivity in a structured, consistent way.
In my work, I support sensitive and highly sensitive individuals through a simple and grounded framework. First, we identify how your sensitivity shows up emotionally, creatively, and energetically in daily life. Second, we build emotional clarity and regulation so you are no longer absorbing what does not belong to you. Third, we learn about your unique creative gifts and create sustainable boundaries, creative practices, and decision-making structures that support your nervous system rather than overwhelm it.
This approach helps sensitive people move from constant emotional processing to emotional steadiness, from confusion to clarity, and from self-neglect to self-trust. The intention is not to change who you are, but to help your sensitivity function as a strength rather than a source of exhaustion.
This work is designed for individuals who are ready to move beyond learning and into implementation. Sensitive people often consume a lot of information but delay applying it. My role is to provide a steady, structured space where insight turns into change.
If you are at a stage where you are no longer seeking validation but seeking regulation, direction, and results, this work may be aligned for you.
