What does it mean to be sensitive?
Hello sensitive or highly sensitive abstract artist!
I wanted to thank you for taking the time to learn more about yourself through my work. I love sharing about sensitivity, high sensitivity, and abstract art.
I know that everyone would have a different definition of sensitivity. I'll share what I understand, knowing that it would resonate with the ones having similar experiences to mine.
Let's dive in!
A person may be sensitive if they are more aware of various stimuli, such as sounds, crowds, emotions, thoughts, energy, words, and art. Sensitive souls have a higher degree of awareness than the average person. Dr. Elaine Aron, a scientist, suggests that 10-30% of the population is highly sensitive, and 10%-30% of the human population experiences sensitivity at a much higher scale than the rest. In fact, fish, fruit flies, primates, dogs, and mammals could be highly sensitive too. In fact, sensitivity isn't a random occurrence, but research suggests that it could stem from a genetic adaptation or an evolutionary change.
I would like to add that there is nothing to be scared of, as sensitivity activates various types of gifts, including creative, scientific, cognitive, psychic, intuitive, and emotional gifts.
P.S. - I am highly sensitive and in general, I am sensitive to many stimuli, but the stimuli that stand out for me are energy, art, words, and emotions. The key to understanding one’s sensitivity is to give it the time and tools it requires to work for one's benefit and happiness :).
What is abstract art?
Abstract art can have many definitions, and that is alright. What might be abstract to me might not be abstract to you (and vice versa). However, if you are practising art that doesn’t fall under the category of fine art or structured art forms, then I would call it abstract art. For example, I once met a lady whose child would make art out of bottles and trash. Some artists use paper scraps or organic ink to make art too. On the other hand, I practise art that is more emotive and has no form. So, your abstract art could be very personal to you and have a unique meaning that helps you connect with the divine and yourself.

For example, the artwork above is inspired by my emotions. It has no form or structure, but it is filled with emotions and thoughts, most of them unexpressed and repressed. Hence, I call my art abstract art. Please remember that there is no judgment, as all forms of art are created by the divine.
Now, please let me tell you how abstract art helps me. It could help you relate to my gifts :).
When I paint, I can connect to my emotional gifts, intuitive gifts, and psychic gifts. I receive messages from the divine, higher self, and my angels through my artwork.
I found my guardian angel in the year 2020, and since then, many angels have been guiding me, helping me, and creating with me. Yes, angels are real, and I perceive them as energetic beings. My angelic gifts enable me to receive angelic guidance from my angels through my psychic and energetic gifts. I often receive angelic messages when I am making abstract art, and I know that there are many others who have unique gifts like mine. Which is why I felt it was important to include my angelic practice in my sessions, helping my clients connect with their higher self, angels, and creative purpose. Additionally, I express my repressed emotions of anger, resentment, joy, and unexpressed thoughts through my art, which makes me feel relaxed, soothed, and heard.
I have to say that I've had to push myself to be consistent with my artistic practice; hence, I have been able to recognise, understand, and embrace my gifts over time.
How can abstract art help you?
Well, depending on what form of abstract art you practise, I suggest that abstract art can bring in healing, relaxation, soothing, joy, and career opportunities for you. You could be intuitively or psychically gifted, which could show up in the way you create abstract art too. Most importantly, abstract art can help you listen to your inner voice, a quality that is important for highly sensitive people to navigate their lives.
A few years ago, I was unable to cope with my emotional, psychic, and energetic overwhelm. I would feel extremely confused, as though I was battling life by myself, without any direction or change. I would feel extremely flustered with the amount of information I had to receive and process every minute, which would leave me in a lot of emotional, energetic, psychic, and physical pain. It was only after I began painting, was I able to see some degree of change. I realise that physical and emotional pain can be expressed in our art making process. I realise that we can find our answers in our canvas and our angels in our paintings.
I am assured that there are many other sensitive and highly sensitive abstract artists who require to shift their mindsets and see abstract fart or what it is. I am assured the trauma, confusion, pain, and emotional challenges can gradually decrease with understanding of the ways abstract art works for sensitive or highly sensitive people.
It is difficult to presume how abstract art works for different sensitive or highly sensitive souls, as every sensitive soul would have unique gifts and require unique support.
However, the good news is that if we dive into learning about our gifts, eventually, we will be able to find stability amidst the challenges.
Why is it important for sensitive painters to support themselves through coaching?
When exploring one’s intuitive, psychic, and creative abilities, it is important to have human support, as it could help one hear themself out loud. More importantly, it could help one feel motivated and feel humanly supported. Although I didn't have 'a' human being guiding me, I did have the support of humans in other spheres of my life who brought in some degree of assurance for me. However, life would have been so much simpler if I had 'my human', which is why, now, I want to be 'my human' for my clients.
I also feel that the process of self-discovery can involve critical self-talk and negative inner dialogues, which is why, I have been educating myself to be soft with myself and teach softness to other highly sensitive people and abstract artists too. I believe that a little bit of softness and soft mentoring can go a long way.
Often highly sensitive abstract artists could feel like:
they have unrecognized psychic, intuitive, and artistic gifts inside them, but they don’t know how to use them.
they are scared people won’t understand their type of abstract art… or them.
they second-guess themselves so much that they don’t even finish what they started or don't trust their intuitive/psychic guidance.
their sensitivity is not a blessing.
they only want to create freely without fear or doubt holding them back.
they require a human being to understand their unique challenges.
they feel like expressing themselves through abstract art but are held back.
If they choose to take tailored sessions with me, gradually but certainly:
they can talk about their unique psychic, creative, emotional, and artistic challenges.
they can understand their emotional, artistic, intuitive, and psychic gifts.
they can splash paint and laugh with me.
they can recognize the joy art brings them.
they can break through creative blocks.
they can help themselves overcome self-doubt, self-criticism, and confusion.
they can understand their creative problems and build confidence in their art-making process and unique artistic potential.
The fun part about the sessions is that there would be no room for judgment, and I utilise my angelic guidance to support my clients :). Hence, one can talk about their art, emotions, intuition, psychic gifts, and highly sensitive experiences in a safe space.
