Living in color

Updated: Jul 25

Uff! Isn't this a delicious bowl full of color?

I absolutely love the colors in this painting. They have their individuality standing out but also merge to form a beautiful piece of abstract art.

The light blue in the background or the blue curacao shade, acts as a complimentary color for the celebration that is happening in 3/4th of the canvas.

When I first started working on this piece of art, it was going to be a painting with just two colors (blue and white).

I gave a wash of light blue to the canvas, and I remember staring at the canvas for a few minutes. Something in me went, 'is this too plain? Why do I feel like I need to add some color? Why am I noticing a change in my thoughts? Why is my inner creative nodding in disagreement?'

I wasn't able to give myself all the answers, and I began patting the brush over my palette. Soon, the light blue canvas got additions of the colors red, dark red, pink, orange, and some white.

It is fascinating to notice the commonalities in life and this painting. We start off on a path with one or two ideas/plans. Whether we consider it or not, most times, change knocks on our door. The way the path looks might not be the same, but it doesn't mean it is not the same path.

At least for me, I loved the change that knocked on my door when I used more colors for this work of art.

Don't you think so too? Imagine a plain canvas with only a wash of light blue color. Now, place the image in this post next to it.

Which painting knocks on your heart door?

Let me know :).
